Monthly Diary – October 2021

Firstly I have decided to have a small reduction sale following the loss of 170 acres of grassland which has now gone into a re-wilding scheme by the National Trust.  We will not be able to graze or utilise this area in the future.  The sale will take place on November 19th, in Exeter Livestock Centre.  Please contact Kivells on 01392 251261 for Catalogues.  I will be taking a selection of stock including 24 cows with calves at foot, bulling and in-calf heifers plus a few pedigree bulls.  It has been very difficult to select what to sell and what to keep but the decision has been forced upon me.

October we managed to get the maize off in reasonably good conditions and all the cereals in within a short space of time.  They are now looking well.

The cattle pastures have taken a bit of a hammering due to the weather – colossal amount of rainfall during a short space of time.  But now things have dried up and many animals have been able to stay out whilst being supplementary fed.

Bulls are being prepared for the Brecon / McCartneys sale which takes place on Saturday 13th November.
