B L M – British Limousin Matters
This month the livestock markets have reopened for the sale of breeding bulls and Exeter Market (Kivells) had a South West Club sale on 19 June which was put together quickly with a few bulls and heifers entered. We were lucky to top the market with Killerton Panorama and second highest with Killerton Olaf. Lets hope a few more markets follow suit as the online virtual auctions have sadly not been very successful despite a lot of work put into them
I greatly missed my visit to Royal Cornwall Show, in particular the social side. The show is a great place to catch up with clients and friends and promote our breed.
Back on the farm, I am glad we have had some rain. The grass is growing – transformed from dust to green once again. The maize has jumped up and hopefully has come early enough to save some of the cereals.
The beef price has improved – long may it continue. This has put some confidence back into the future of the industry.
Due to Covid Lockdown we have been catching up with several odd jobs – fencing and repairs. But we have had to endure many additional people, dog walkers/cyclists/runners etc around the area.
