After a very wet December, January proved quite a dry month. Cattle out on Stubble turnips are looking very well.
Young stock are growing but sadly we have had a hiccup with a touch of pneumonia
We are getting Limousin bulls ready for spring sales – Carlisle, Brecon, Exeter and Holsworthy. Killerton Sigma is off to Carlisle in February.
Due to circumstances happening in the future with my landlord- the National Trust – creating parkland/public access and planting trees – we will have livestock for sale this spring and summer as the herd will be forced into lower numbers. Killerton Limousin will be vacating Columbjohn Farm in September but only moving half a mile down the road to my own premises at Bussells Farm, Huxham.
The beef pricing seems to be getting stronger which is a good sign but whether this means more people will use it as an excuse to get out of the livestock sector and our demand for quality animals will decline remains to be seen.
