Monthly Diary – January 2019

Cattle grazing stubble turnips

Shooting season has finished and depression has set in.  We had a kind January weather wise.  Cattle outside are looking very well.  Cattle inside have as usual caused a few problems, especially young calves

Nadal and Napoleon for Carlisle Market

Calving is about to start mid February so cows have been mineral bolused and had iodine on their backs as they have been outwintered on stubble turnips.  This is the first time we have not started calving in January and it has taken quite a bit of pressure off labour and buildings.  So hopefully warmer times will prevail and an early spring would be a great asset.

Nelson and Neilson

I am taking three bulls to the Carlisle sale 16 February and hopefully it will be worth all the effort.  I have also entered three bulls for the Brecon sale in March.

We have several bulling heifers for sale – please call me for further details 07850 952983
