Well, we have had our first Covid Jabs so at last we are on the way forward to our new “normal”… No blood clots to report so all is good.
Felt my age a bit this month with my birthday falling during Lockdown. I thank everybody for the cards, messages and abuse – it made the 17th a memorable day.
Some bulls are out working – catching up with tail enders, including the two new stockbulls Loosebeare Prestwick and Nealford Politician. Calving is going ahead – we seem to be having a few more backwards calves than usual, not sure why, hence “slight assistance” required and monitoring. Thank goodness for CCTV Cameras.
We are busy getting Limousin Bulls ready for spring sales. We have 3 entered at Frome Market (14 April) and 4 entered for Kivells, Exeter, Sale on 23rd April. Entries have also been made for H&H Carlisle on 8th May and McCartneys Brecon sale on 15th May.
It was good to be able to turn some cattle out at the end of March as straw stocks were depleting fast. The grass is very slow to grow due to weather conditions (cold nights)
Cereals have come through the winter well so we are in the lap of the gods from now on.
