Spring has hopefully arrived at long last. After such a wet winter we were all in need of sunshine and blue skies. The grass is just beginning to grow even though
temperatures are not as high as last year. I have still got a few cattle in sheds which is unusual for the end of March and I am glad I made so much silage two years ago –
which is still feeding well. The straw heap is also dwindling fast .
At long last the fencing contractors have arrived to put up more stock fencing to split the fields up and make handling a lot easier.
We recently passed our main Limousin Herd TB Test which is always a great relief. Calving is slow at the moment due to putting the calving into a block later in
the year. We have also suffered with a few which have reabsorbed the foetus and have come bulling again, despite being confirmed in calf. The vets have implied there are
some peculiar things happening this year.
I will be taking bulls to the Limousin sales at Holsworthy on 22 April and Brecon on 9thMay. They are well grown and ready for work – lets hope the buyers are out there.
On a sad note, Charlotte Edwards has left Devon to go back to Wales. I will miss her help and support – she was a great asset for the past 12 months. If anyone is looking
for a part time job please get in touch with me 07850 952983
Thank you – any questions please give us a call
