Time seems to have flown by. We have gone from wet to dry with grass beginning to run out at this time, the end of June
Brecon and Holsworthy sales were a bit sticky this year. Plenty of lookers but not enough buyers. I sold a couple of Limousin Heifers in Exeter but again bull trade was slow.
Showing at Devon County – I did very well with our homebred bull Killerton Saunders, where he was placed Best Limousin and Reserve Interbreed.
A younger team went to Cornwall Show – with Killerton UnCanny placed first as Junior Bull and winner of the Nare Trophy for Best Recorded Bull in Show on the Friday.
Killerton Tomato also did very well, winning the pairs with Killerton UnCanny
We have managed to take a couple of cuts of silage as the spring grass got ahead of the livestock. Maize was planted later than usual and is now not looking too bad but could do with a drink
On a very sad note I have to share the tragic news that Clive Groves passed away last week (end of June). Clive has helped me for many years preparing livestock for shows and sales, TB testing and many other stock handling jobs on the farm. He will be sorely missed by lots of people, in many walks of life. He was a true gent and nothing was too much trouble for him. Taken far too young.
