Apologies for my extended silence this autumn. I have been extremely busy with an awful lot to sort. My tenancy with the National Trust ended on 28 September and all Livestock had to be moved to my holding at Higher Bussells, Huxham, Exeter EX5 4EW (Just a mile down the road from Columbjohn).
At the same time I have ended up being project manager for my house being renovated at Silverton. This should have been completed by summer 2023 but no surprise we are still waiting for a move in date. Not sure where Christmas 2023 will be spent – or even if I will bother this year. Following the July reduction sale, I made the decision to carry on with the cattle and we have just under 60 pedigree limousin cows with followers. There are a number of young bulls for sale – halter tied and vaccinated (BVD, IBR, Lepto). The beef price has been good this autumn so some hard decisions had to be taken.I took three young bulls to Brecon in November – trade was strong and I was pleased to sell them all. 100% Clearance at the Sale.
Calving is now finished for this year. I would like to thank Chris Lockyer (Lockyer Agri Services) for his help redesigning the buildings at Higher Bussells and Leach Brothers Construction for their building and yard construction work, creating a safe and efficient cattle handling facility.
