I had a very successful trip to the British Limousin Society’s Autumn Show & Sale at Brecon on 10th November with KILLERTON GERALD. This May 2011 born bull was Overall Supreme Champion and sold for the top sale price to Richard Jones, Montgomery, Powys. The full sale report was published in the Farmers Guardian

I wish Richard all the best with the bull.
Beef sales still remain strong – long may it continue as all our costs are ‘going through the roof’.
At the end of October I travelled to Roscrea for the Irish Limousin Premier Bull Show and Sale with a few other S.W. Limousin Club breeders. We were all very impressed by the cattle put forward and purchases were made. I acquired the overall show champion Roundhill Gailleo, September 2011 Attirant son, and he is now settling in on the farm.
We were looked after extremely well and made most welcome by the Irish Limousin Society throughout our stay – hats off to them.
Rain didn’t stop in November and during the last week we had 6.5inches which meant roads/grazing fields were flooded. The cows outwintered on stubble turnips understandably looked very miserable but have cheered up after a few drier days. All housed calves have been vaccinated against pneumonia – so far so good – but with daily temperatures varying so much we continually have to be vigilant.
Arable crops seem to be suffering due to rain, slugs and pigeons ….out of my control!
I was delighted to win the Victor Ludorum points trophy once again for the Honiton & District Agricultural Association Farms Competition. The Show Committee work very hard visiting farms in the east Devon area to keep the event going.
This year I won the Suckler Class and field of oats, plus second place in the class for a field of potatoes.
